Mit den so genannten »Parité-Gesetzen« wurde gegen Ende der 1990er Jahre zum ersten Mal in Frankreich eine Politik eingeleitet, mittels derer die politische Repräsentation der Frauen gezielt befördert werden sollte. Mit dem Verfassungsgesetz vom 8. Juli 1999 wurde dem Artikel 3 der Verfassung ein Absatz hinzugefügt, dem zufolge »das Gesetz den gleichen Zugang von Frauen und Männern zu Wahlmandaten und darauf beruhenden Ämtern fördert«. Ein Jahr später bestimmte das Wahlrechtsgesetz vom 6. Juni 2000 die praktischen Modalitäten der »Förderung« dieses gleichen Zugangs von Frauen und Männern zum Feld der Repräsentation mittels positiver Diskriminierungsmaßnahmen bei der Aufstellung der Kandidaten für die Mehrheit der politischen Wahlen (Kommunalwahlen, Regionalwahlen, Europawahlen, Senats- und Parlamentswahlen). Le point de départ au moins semble clairement délimité. Avec l’introduction du suffrage universel dans l’empire allemand, en 1918, hommes et femmes ont acquis des droits politiques formellement égaux. La Loi Fondamentale de la République fédérale allemande a introduit, avec la formulation de son article 3, « Hommes et femmes sont égaux en droits », un autre énoncé qui élargit et explicite la position de fond impliquée par le suffrage universel. Les possibles différences entre les sexes ne peuvent en principe plus faire l’objet de discriminations et sont neutralisées pour les domaines de la société qui sont soumis à une régulation politique.

This introductory volume for the series entitled "The Psychogenesis of Mankind"—a collection of 32 essays contributing to the topic "The development of the psyche in the history of mankind"—is presented and evaluated in several sections. First the context is outlined briefly. A psychological study orientated primarily on a horizontal empirical-experimental axis tends to neglect the vertical axis of the long-term history of mankind. This is perhaps due to the fact that the methods used for the former tend to be qualitative in terms of description and evaluation. The next section consists of an overview of the book, and its heterogeneity of methods and subjects are highlighted. Afterwards, selected contributions are discussed. The final comments of this review point to the necessity of qualitative research methods still rarely employed in the field in question, and conclude with desiderata of future research on this topic. All in all, the book impresses with density and diversity.

In this article we analyze the visual ways of perception—seeing, observing, and gazing,—and discuss the double dependence of the process of perception on theory. In doing so we argue that open methodological and epistemological questions can be answered by differentiating the process of perception into three steps: pure vision, cognitive representation, and transformation of perception into words. In addition, the processes of perception have to be further differentiated in conscious and unconscious levels of awareness.
As existing empirical analyses of the influence of diverse variables on the results of perception indicate, the process of visual perception is highly sensible and includes various sources of methodological artifacts. The suggested two-dimensional "visual difference," consisting of the difference between image and language as well as of the difference between presentative and discursive symbols, should sensitize researchers towards diverse processes of screening and selection. This concept should therefore be systematically integrated in the interpretation of all processes of perception.
The question of the methodological quality of visual studies remains in the focus of the analyses as it becomes clear that any process of perception is always subject to the individual observer‘s multiple mechanisms of screening and selection. This article therefore constitutes a first attempt to outline consistent "quality criteria" for visual studies.

Based on video data collected at a children's university we discuss how generational order is produced and shaped into different constellations. As a theoretical reference point we use the concept of "socialization as generational ordering" (BÜHLER-NIEDERBERGER, 2011; BÜHLER-NIEDERBERGER & TÜRKYILMAZ, 2014). Analysis of the initial sessions of two different courses at this out-of-school learning facility shows three things: First, how children grasp, work out, and modify rules in such an unfamiliar context and how this makes them accomplices in the production of generational order. Second, how children paradoxically are "doing pupil" as well in this out-of-school setting, revealing the dominance of "school order." Third, by a contrastive analysis of courses, a certain variety of these ordering processes can be found. This variety concerns forms of knowledge and the ways children are addressed; however, the dominance of the "school order" is hardly challenged.

The fact that a researcher forms a critical component of the world that he or she is studying is no more evident than during the gathering and analysis of data that underpins his or her qualitative research study. Having selected a Straussian grounded theory of the meanings of voluntary medical adult male circumcision (VMAMC) for HIV prevention in South Africa as a research topic, I found that my personal characteristics (being a young, white, English-speaking female researcher) had a profound impact on my ability to recruit and interview participants for this study. Thus, I had to rely on fieldworkers to act on my behalf in this capacity. However, this had a number of methodological implications for my study and as such, this article addresses these to remind qualitative researchers that practical solutions to overcoming research process obstacles can have methodological implications that need to be considered and addressed to ensure rigor within qualitative health psychology research.
