Can you describe your project in three sentences and explain the digital component of your work? In the 19th century, newspapers copied each other extensively: Texts were reprinted, adapted, and circulated across regional and national borders. Migration and HERitage: Gender Mining the Nineteenth-Century German-American Press examines this phenomenon using the example of the German-American press, the largest non-English-language press in the 19th century US press environment. Ziel des Projekts ist es, die derzeitige, in vielerlei Hinsicht unzeitgemäße Onlinepräsenz des Bildbestandes komplett zu erneuern. Zu diesem Zweck möchten wir die erweiterte Nutzer-Gemeinschaft einladen, uns mit Erfahrungen zur aktuellen Präsentation der Fotografien und letztendlich mit Ideen und Bedürfnisangaben für ein zukünftiges Bildportal zu unterstützen.
